『ザ・パワー・オブ・ツー』日米配給決定のお知らせ

米国ではGoDigital社により2012年6月5日より配信
日本では2012年10月よりUPLINKより劇場公開決定　

Twin Triumph Productions LLC社（本社：米国レッドウッドシティー　代表：アンドリュー･バーンズ）とPreferred Content社（本社：米国ロサンゼルス　代表：ケビン・イワシナ）は、ドキュメンタリー映画『ザ・パワー・オブ・ツー』の日米配給が決定いたしました事をお知らせします。

本作品は、アカデミー賞®ノミネートの実績を持つ、マーク・スモロウィッツ監督の作品であり、2011 年8 月には、DocuWeeks™に選出され、世界プレミア上映を果たしました。また、これまで世界各都市20の映画祭で上映され、観客賞、最優秀ドキュメンタリー賞を含む8つの賞を受賞いたしました。

本作品の米国における配給に関して、2012年4月から5月にかけては、米国の一部劇場にて公開、また全米でのコミュニティー・スクリーニングを予定しております。2012年6月5日からは、GoDigital社（本社：米国サンタモニカ　代表：ローガン・ムルベイ）との提携により、米国のケーブル／サテライトVOD（ビデオ・オン・デマンド）及びデジタルブロードバンドにて配信が決定いたしました。日本においては、有限会社アップリンク（本社：東京都渋谷区　代表：浅井隆　以下：UPLINK）との提携により、2012年秋、全国劇場公開を予定しております。なお、UPLINKは、日本における本作品の全権利を所有しています。

『ザ・パワー・オブ・ツー』は、生まれながらにして、膵嚢胞性線維症(すいのうほうせいせんいしょう)（通称CF）という肺の遺伝性難病を抱え、臓器移植により奇跡の生還を果たした、日本人ハーフの双子姉妹：アナベル・ステンツェルとイサベル・ステンツェル・バーンズの類稀な人生を描いています。死に直面した双子姉妹が、「いのちの贈り物」を授かり、作家、スポークスウーマンとして、またアスリートとして、新たな道を歩んでいく姿に迫ります。またスモロウィッツは、ステンツェル姉妹の母親の故郷である、日本の臓器移植や臓器提供を取巻く環境についても、深く考察しています。

本作品はスモロウィッツ(代表プロデュース作品：2003年『The Weather Underground』及び2001年『Trembling Before G-d』) の監督デビュー作品となり、コビントン&バーリング法律事務所でパートナーとして活躍するアンドリュー・バーンズによりプロデュースされました。 エグゼクティブ・プロデューサーは、シリコンバレーの弁護士であり、フェースブックの初代チーフ・プライバシー・オフィサーのクリス・ケリーが務めています。

すでに世界中で観客に影響を与えている本作品について、スモロウィッツは、「この映画を製作できたことは大変光栄であり、私の人生及びキャリアにおいても重要な作品となりました。アナベルとイサベルの物語を映画化することで、自分より大きな事に取組み、支持することの大切さを強く認識しまし た。」と語っています。

GoDigital社代表のローガン・ムルベイ氏は配給についてこう語っています。「『ザ・パワー・オブ・ツー』は、弊社がMight Entertainment社を買収後リリースする、最初の専門ドキュメンタリー映画となりました。スモロウィッツ氏のような、受賞履歴のある監督により製作された社会派映画を、高画質なVOD（ビデオ・オン・デマンド）や、デジタル・プラットフォームを通して提供することに、今後も注力して参ります。」

一 方、2011年10月、『ザ・パワー・オブ・ツー』は第24回東京国際映画祭において、国際プレミア上映を果たしました。この映画祭に参加したUPLINK代表の浅井隆氏より、日本との接点がある本作品の日本配給の申し出を受けました。浅井氏は配給についてこう語っています。「スモロウィッツ氏が映画で美しく描写するストーリー、その他様々な問題や事実を、日本の方々に知ってもらうことがとても大事だと思います。それを実現し、臓器提供への認識を広めるためにも、2012年10月から日本全国で『ザ・パワー・オブ・ツー』の公開を予定しています。」
