14th United Nations Association Film Festival

San Francisco Bay Area residents may not be familiar with the United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF). The festival was founded by Stanford educator and film critic Jasmina Bojic to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Over its now 14 years of existence, the films screened by the festival have dealt with such human rights issues as racism, sexism, homelessness, and war and peace. This year’s theme is “Education is a Human Right.” To that end, the UNAFF has gone through over 600 submissions from around the world to create a program of 70 films screening in various venues (mostly in the Palo Alto/Stanford area) between October 21, 2011 and October 30, 2011. . . .
